Are they real? Can I actually build them?

Accepted Answer

Yes, that is the point. Builds are made only of real, existing parts, and every version is checked for proper stud and pin connections, parts that collide and pieces left floating. Bricky fixes what it can before handing the build over, and each build shows the results of its checks. A very large or unusual build may still need a small fix by hand, and the model opens in any LDraw-compatible building app.

What is the technology behind it?

BricksChat is made by Mereology Labs. We believe the world is made of parts, and to make the world a better place, AI needs to learn that. Brick builds are also a great sandbox for compositional intelligence, and because they are made of exact parts, a build can be compared with existing builds part by part. That makes similarity easier to check than for generated images, though no check can settle on its own who copied whom.

Are the designs original?

We compare every generated build with the official sets in our comparison library. When no distinctive sub-assembly matches, the build is labelled Original design: that means no close match was found among the sets we compare against, not that nothing similar exists anywhere. Otherwise it shows how much of it matches parts or components of a given set. A match should not be read as wrongdoing: alt-builds or modifications of existing builds can be quite original while being labelled as mostly copied, and shared building techniques are common. This is a guide, not a legal judgement, and we are working on improving it. Let us know if you want us to double-check a build.

Can I download building instructions?

Yes. Every build comes with a 3D view and a parts list. Step-by-step instructions (a PDF, illustrated steps in the app and a parts inventory as a CSV file) are included in paid plans, or you can unlock them for a single build. See Plans.

Question 5

Can I sell instructions for builds I create with BricksChat?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on the Studio plan. You may sell instructions for your own BricksChat-assisted designs that you unlock on Studio, including their instruction packages, subject to our terms and any applicable third-party rights. You can use your own shop or a marketplace that accepts your work. BricksChat does not charge a royalty on your sales. On Free, Pro and Premium, your builds and instructions are for personal use. You are responsible for checking the design, building steps, parts inventory, and the marketplace’s submission requirements before publishing. Note that buying, uploading, regenerating, or modifying someone else’s design does not automatically give you the right to sell it. BricksChat permits commercial use of eligible generated outputs, but does not guarantee that a design is unique, qualifies for copyright protection, or is free of third-party rights.

What does Studio’s commercial licence cover?

Each build you commercially unlock under Studio includes permission from BricksChat to sell its eligible design files and instructions, and to use its eligible renders to promote your work. You may remove BricksChat branding from those exports. BricksChat does not charge royalties on your sales. Your permission continues after cancellation and includes corrections and minor revisions to the licensed build. The licence does not grant rights to another designer’s work, third-party brands, or creator-catalogue content. You remain responsible for checking your inputs, the finished build, and the marketplace’s requirements.

I design MOCs. Can I work with BricksChat?

We are exploring ways to help builders discover independent designers’ creations, with your name and a link to your instructions, and private similarity checks that help us recognise your work within BricksChat. We are rolling it out gradually. If either interests you, join the designer interest list: no account or files needed.

How can I order the sets?

We do not sell boxed sets. With the instructions you get a parts inventory, which you can use to buy exactly the pieces you need from a parts marketplace such as BrickLink, or to check against the bricks you already have.

Is there a mobile app?

Accepted Answer

Not in the app stores yet. BricksChat works in the browser on your phone, tablet or computer, and you can add it to your home screen. Apps for iPhone and Android are on the way. Let us know if you are interested in being an early tester.
